About

Geoff grew up in Red Deer, and began playing volleyball in Grade 6. Geoff played club volleyball with the Red Deer Kings Club from U14 to U18. He was fortunate enough to represent Red Deer and the Kings Club on the Alberta provincial teams, and completed his high school playing career as a setter for the Notre Dame Cougars. After graduating, Geoff continued his setting career in the ACAC at Medicine Hat College and SAIT Polytechnic.

Geoff has been actively coaching in the Red Deer area for almost 20 years. He has coached different age ranges, from grade fives just learning the sport to college athletes. He has also spent time as a drill coach with the Alberta Provincial team.

Geoff had six successful seasons as a head coach with the Kings Volleyball Club. During his time his teams achieved podium finishes in four of their last six competitions – one of which was a Provincial Gold Medal at the U15 level in Spring 2019.

In 2020 Geoff was selected as a Zone 4 Head Coach for the Alberta Winter Games in Airdrie, where he guided his U15 Boys team to a silver medal  finish.

In summer 2020 Geoff was to be a Team Alberta U16 Boys Assistant Coach, preparing for the Canada Cup. Regrettably, COVID-19 caused the cancellation of this event.

Currently, Geoff is a Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach at Red Deer Polytechnic, and volunteers with Hunting Hills High School teams.

Geoff is the founder and passion behind NEXUS Volleyball Inc., launched in early 2018. He has grown the NEXUS brand over the years and is tremendously proud of the direction it is heading. His venture began with the purpose of growing the game of volleyball in the Red Deer area and helping athletes attain their volleyball goals. Geoff believes the most rewarding aspects of NEXUS are the relationships he has built, giving back to the volleyball community, and most of all creating something that brings people together.
